Indigenous Advanced Education & Skills Council

Celebrating Milestones and Looking Ahead to a New Academic Year

On August 24-25, 2026, the IAESC Board of Directors, the Indigenous Institutes Quality Assessment Board (IIQAB), and IAESC staff, came together for two days of meetings, ceremony, and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

We came together in ceremony, as we do each August, to honour our bundle and start the new year in a good way.

We were honoured to receive a video message from Minister Nolan Quinn recognizing the importance of the Indigenous Institutes and the work of IAESC, and the continued advancement of Indigenous postsecondary education in Ontario. Minister Quinn also shared congratulatory remarks for the Anishinabek Educational Institute on the successful approval of their Organization Review. AEI is the 9th Indigenous Institute to become an accredited standalone credit granting Institute, recognized by the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES).

We extend our gratitude to Minister Quinn for his thoughtful remarks and to the IAESC Board of Directors for their engagement and collective commitment in support of this work.

Together, we continue to advance Indigenous postsecondary education.
