Study at an Indigenous Institute

Indigenous Institutes are thriving.

Higher retention and graduation rates demonstrate the power of learning spaces where culture and support come first.

Why Study at an Indigenous Institute?

At an Indigenous post-secondary institute, the student experience comes first. Indigenous Institutes strive to provide a home away from home, a space where culture and community come together and learners feel welcome and cared for throughout their education journey.

Programs offered at Indigenous Institutes are delivered in response to the employment, education and training needs of surrounding communities. Collectively, the 9 Indigenous Institutes in Ontario serve more than 133 communities across the province.

From certificates to diplomas and degrees, Indigenous Institutes meet learners where they are and ensure that the well-being of every student is at the forefront of their learning experience. Programs may be offered virtually, hybrid, in-person on campus or in community.

Programs at Indigenous Institutes

There are over 70 programs offered collectively at the Indigenous Institutes. The Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security has created an interactive map that allows you to select a post-secondary institute and learn about the programs that they offer.

Questions about Credit Transferability

Credits earned from an approved program are transferable. This means that your credits earned will be recognized at other post-secondary institutes.
